Here is an interesting story, and photos, about Fabian Bachrach from the Washington Post. Talk about some amazing portraits, wow! The lighting is perfect and such detail and clarity. He has photographed some of the most accomplished figures in recent American history. On top of all that, Fabian did much of this work with little time with the subject. At times having only 2 or 3 minutes with the person in between other appointments. That is just incredible considering that everything had to be ready to go so that the subject could just step in and have the shot done. In the case of the photo of Muhammad Ali, he had 2 minutes with him and got only 3 frames. That is someone that knows what they are doing.
I have noticed a recent increase in how Law Enforcement is handling many situations nationwide. People who are detained with no regard for their rights. People harassed for taking pictures in places that are permissible.
Understand what I am saying here, as a former Marine and Peace Officer I understand that Police and other law enforcement agencies need to be able to protect the public, but when law abiding citizens are threatened and taken away in handcuffs for doing nothing wrong, then there is a problem. In the video below a person was not violating any laws, and yet he was threatened, handcuffed, and taken to the police station. Now to us watching this, it is not a big deal. What if you were the one who was threatened by 3 Police Officers and then cuffed and escorted away in front of everyone around.
Here is a great example of how photography can really show the unique side of a community. Checkout Seattle Houseboat Photos to see how others live. I loved the movie Sleepless in Seattle, but I never knew that these houses floated on the water.

Good morning. I know that this is not a photo related post, but sharing photos that you have taken is an awesome ability. Photography is elevated when you can share it with others and get their perspectives and comments. That is why I love my iPhone so much. I always have it with me and it is not big and bulky. The downside is the quality. Don’t get me wrong, it is adequate for a 3 megapixel camera, but I just wish I had a little more to work with and a little more control.
At any rate, I found this post this morning on how to post directly to fan pages on Facebook from your iPhone. I have been doing this for sometime with my personal profile, but hadn’t figured out how to achieve this for my fan pages. This may be old news to some, but I have been looking for this for some time. I administer a couple of fan pages in addition to my own personal profile and I know this will definately open up opportunities for increased sharing.
Let me know if this helps or if you have any additional comments or info.
Here is a another great article from Picture Perfect explaining the difference between digital file formats. Ever wonder what the heck a JPEG, GIF,TIFF, or RAW file was? This article explains what each file type is, where to use it, and why it is used the way it is. Check out Digital Image Formats – JPEG, GIF, RAW – What Do All These Mean? This is definately something worth reading if you are a photographer or aspiring photographer. There is no sense in spending your time getting that perfect shot, only to find that you saved the image in the wrong format.
I have moved over to completely using RAW files myself for my images. They have a larger files size, but allow for more precise tweaking once I get home and view them in a controlled environment. Check out Why use our camera’s RAW format for some great info on this subject. Here is a quick, and basic, run down on How to fix RAW photos in Elements.

Here is a picture that I took in Sibley Park, in Mankato, MN, in 2003. The leaves were changing and the colors were vibrant. The weather was extremely warm for fall and it made for great photo opportunities all around the Mankato area. I am very happy with how this photo turned out and I have not seen the leaves turn like they did that year. I hope you enjoy this.
